Belfast city to get £150m revamp
Belfast City Council has announced a £150million investment programme to be spent in the city with a view to elevating Belfast to a status to rival other major European capitals.
The money is to be invested in various projects throughout Belfast over the next three years, including an extension to Waterfront Hall to increase its capacity and appeal as a venue for large conventions. Some of the money has also been earmarked Council leisure facilities and for the Floral Hall building at Belfast Zoo.
A significant portion of the money has been set aside for supporting economic growth (£34m) and community development (£29m). Belfast City Council said the money would be generated by a 'below inflation' rates increase and also from Europe and Stormont.
